A monthly call, from Saudi Arabia

It is not about the business. It is about the mind.

A founder I speak to for fifteen minutes every month is teaching me something I didn’t go there to teach.

One of my clients in Saudi Arabia has a quiet ritual. Once a month, he asks for fifteen minutes of my time. Nothing else. Just fifteen minutes to talk.

When we first started, he had zero online presence. His business is the kind where, for years, being online felt unnecessary. His customers came from word of mouth, from family, from community. Why would he need Google.

We started building his presence anyway. Slowly. Nothing loud. Just steadily.

A year later, he called me and said something I have been thinking about ever since.

“Krishna, I am happy. Not because my business grew. Because my mind grew. If we had waited another few years, we would have been out of business.”

Then he told me something else. I am seeing my friends in the same line of work. The ones who did not change their thinking are down fifty percent from where they were a few years ago. Fifty percent. Not because the market shrank. Because they stayed still.

The world moved and they did not move with it.

Last week he called me again. This time he asked a different question.

“Can AI find my business? Can GPT recommend me?”

I smiled. Because a year ago, this was a man who did not want to be on Google.

“We are no longer working on how Google will search you. We are working on how AI will recommend you.”

That shift is coming for every business over the next ten years. Reviews were the currency of the last decade. Trust, the kind AI can read, verify and recommend, is the currency of the next.

One day he said, a little hesitantly, I would like to pay you for these fifteen minutes. I said no. Because I learn from these conversations as much as he does. This is how I stay sharp.

If you are a founder feeling stuck, and you cannot quite name what is stuck, call me for fifteen minutes. That is how we start.
